Gen Z students are interested in gaining experience through internships and apprenticeships. According to a survey for Generation Z Goes to College, nearly 80% of respondents said that they believed it was important to have these on-the-job learning experiences in their post-secondary education.

They also want to have hands-on projects and other ways to learn that are more interactive than traditional classrooms. They expect to have collaboration with their classmates and teachers, both in person and online, and are accustomed to instant communication, which means that they want to know what is going on as soon as possible.

They are also wary of student debt and interested in practical subjects that lead to career success. They may have grown up in households where they saw a family member lose their job or struggle to pay their bills, and they are focused on financial security. This is why they prefer to seek out efficient routes to career advancement rather than luxuries that aren’t tied to real-world benefits.

They’re Less Resistant to Free Speech

Generation Z students are more likely to pursue higher education than previous generations. In fact, among young adults ages 18 to 21 who were no longer in high school in 2018, 57% of them were enrolled in two- or four-year colleges, according to the Pew Research Center.

They are also more pragmatic about higher education, and seek out majors that offer clear paths to careers. Many grew up watching their Gen X parents struggle through recessions and tech stock market crashes, and they want careers that will guarantee financial stability.

In addition, they are more attentive to issues of diversity and inclusion, and want schools to live up to those ideals. They also expect immediate feedback on assignments, and crave autonomy. N Mahesh

BENGALURU: The lone Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA in Karnataka, N Mahesh, has joined the BJP. The former chief minister of the state and BJP leader BS Yediyurappa welcomed him at the party office in Old Mysuru. Mahesh, who represents the Kollegal constituency in Chamarajnagar district, had contested the 2022 assembly elections on a BSP ticket but later joined the Congress-JD(S) coalition government headed by Kumaraswamy and was made primary education minister.

During his time as minister, Mahesh tried to merge single teacher schools and contemplated denying permission for new private schools for three years. He also experimented with open books and launched career guidance and counselling cells in colleges. He has also criticized the previous BJP government’s revision of textbooks, saying that it was anti-student. He has vowed to introduce a new state education policy that will meet local social, cultural, and economic needs.

DK Shivkumar

Doddalahalli Kempegowda Shivakumar, commonly known as DKShi or DK, is a veteran politician from Karnataka. He belongs to the Vokkaliga community and was born in Kanakapura. He has a Master’s Degree in Political Science. He is married to Usha and has two daughters and a son. He is the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and a member of the Indian National Congress party.

He is a troubleshooter for the party and is often called “Congress’s problem-solver”. He withstood a conspiracy from within the party when Sri Veerendra Patil was unable to continue as Chief Minister due to ill health and supported S Bangarappa as his successor. He also played an important role in luring S M Krishna to contest for the Rajya Sabha seat and extended his full support, helping him emerge as an unbeatable winner.

In the Siddaramaiah government, he served as the Minister of Energy from 2013 to 2018. He has also worked on planning underpasses and flyovers across Karnataka including the construction of K.R Market flyover.

MC Sudhakar

MC Sudhakar Reddy is an Indian politician who is currently serving as the Minister of Higher Education in the Karnataka State Government. He is a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Chintamani and a staunch supporter of social justice. He has been active in political activism since 2004 and has worked to improve the lives of his constituents. He also works to create a more open society through his policies and social programs.
