There are many types of couplings. According to whether or not they contain elastic elements inside, they can be divided into rigid couplings and flexible couplings. The flexible couplings have elastic elements, so they can absorb vibration and mitigate shocks. The use of elastic deformation compensates for the possible offset of the two axes to varying degrees.
Rigid couplings can be classified into fixed and translational types based on their structural characteristics. The former does not have the ability to compensate for displacement. The latter uses relative motion between certain elements to compensate for misalignment between two axes. Rigid-flexible couplings usually have a higher compensation capacity than elastic couplings, but they do not absorb vibration and mitigate shocks.
